"We've been handed
more than a whopping 68% increase in taxes in just five years by
the current Republican County Commissioner's - that is an average of 12% per year! Meanwhile the current Commissioner's salary has increased $3840 in three years since being elected and
now you've re-elected him!
His recent re-election was the pure result of
"R" straight ticket voting (average of
85.58% straight "R" vote and 15.94%
straight "D"). The McCain vote was 80.86
in Precinct 1 while the Obama vote was
15.94%. Compare that to Cornyn getting
82.49 and Noriega getting 16.10;
Neugebauer received 80.82% while Fullingham
earned
16.68%. So when you see McCay received
72.51% of the vote, while I received
25.06%, it is easy to understand that there was
absolutely nothing that I could have
done differently. Some crossed over and
voted for me, but not enough.
The citizens of Lubbock would rather be
taxed to death and let county government
balloon out of control than elect a
conservative democrat that ran on a true
fiscal conservative. The republican
party I knew used to stand for reducing
taxes and smaller government. Commissioner McCay can believe that you re-elected him because
the voters believe he
will do the best job, but as I've always
said - the numbers don't lie.
My sincere thanks to those that
supported my campaign and cast their
votes for fiscal conservative values
over a spend and tax yellow-page salesmen.
